Activism
At Sub Rosa, advocacy and the approach to wellbeing and self-improvement are grounded in lived experience, feminist values, and a commitment to human dignity. My activism spans grassroots initiatives, academic research, and global systems change. I work with individuals, communities, and organizations who are often silenced or marginalized, witnessing their stories, supporting their rights, and empowering them to discover their inner capacities.
Areas of Advocacy
My work is dedicated to amplifying and advocating for the rights of:
- Women and girls survivors of gender-based and domestic violence
- Victims of human trafficking
- Convicted and formerly incarcerated individuals
- Workers exposed to harassment, discrimination, and mobbing
- People with disabilities navigating systemic or everyday barriers, particularly in institutional care
- Survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence and rape
- People affected by armed conflict, including refugees and internally displaced persons
- Victims of human rights violations in humanitarian crises
Research and academic background: The Ukrainian Model and Beyond
My master’s thesis, “The Role of the International Media in Instigating Humanitarian Relief and Global Public Support to War-Affected Countries: The Ukrainian Model” 2023, explores how global media can influence humanitarian action and public awareness.
I focused on five ongoing crises: Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Yemen, and Ukraine,
Feminist Work: Support and Prevention
Facilitator of Self-Help and Support Groups (2020)
After completing certified training under the Power of Change model, an initiative supported by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women, I went on to facilitate support and self-help groups for women and girls, focused on the prevention of gender-based violence.
Topics included:
- Healthy boundaries and emotional intelligence
- Building self-confidence and self-image
- Assertive communication and breaking the silence
- Understanding gender norms and women’s rights
- Recognizing and addressing intimate partner violence
- Mapping available resources and community support
These programs have had transformative impacts on young women, improving their confidence, sense of agency, and awareness of their rights and community.
Training and Field Experience
SOS Hotline Training – ASTRA (2018)
Specialized training for hotline responders working with victims of human trafficking, with a focus on trauma-informed communication, legal frameworks, and crisis support.
…from the Circle – Working with Women with Disabilities
Training focused on supporting women with disabilities who are victims of violence, including institutional violence in care facilities and systemic barriers to protection and justice.
Victimology Society of Serbia (VDS)
Participated in the training for service providers supporting victims of violence, covering risk assessment, victim protection, and coordination with institutions.
Contributor to the publication: “Vodič za mapiranje potreba žrtava, procenu rizika i zaštitu od nasilja u porodici” (View PDF)—a guide for identifying victims’ needs, assessing risk, and ensuring effective protection from domestic violence.
Network of Women Against Violence
As part of my role at VDS, I actively participated in coordination meetings and team-building initiatives within the Network of Women Against Violence in Serbia—a coalition of over 30 feminist sister organizations, most of which operate SOS hotlines across the country. The Network plays a critical role in mutual learning, advocacy, and service delivery across Serbia, and I am honored to have supported our collective mission.
